The more I watch the pros, the more it seems like they pick the ball out of greenside bunkers vs. blasting the ball with a resounding "thud" then a cloud of sand. Not always, but it seems where possible they prefer minimal sand impact. This would make sense to control distance and spin. Maybe it's an illusion? The would require phenomenal low point control to not blade the ball 70 yards, but of course if anyone has low point control, it would be the tour pros.
