So I bought a net and some turf to hit in my backyard. Figuring I wouldn't have to spend my life savings at the range and would have access whenever I wanted it. What I can seem to understand even though I must be doing something very different... Sometimes I will go out there and stripe every ball and come in side chopping at the bit to get to the course then there are the last two days whereas if everything I've learned or have tried to apply has just disappeared. Hitting a thin shanking off the hosel even though I try to keep my setup consistent keep my weight shifted to the left point my shoulder down etc etc in short the lack of consistency is driving me crazy. And to add insult to injury when I'm hitting off the turf I still can't seem to take a divot.... thoughts ...help ...therapy booze... clubs for sale? #frustrating

@Andrew Bogdan - Yep - I agree completely with @Ian "Twiggy" Jones and @danny - the 90% Weight Forward/Arms Straight Drill. Work on this EXACTLY as described and demonstrated in order to find that crispiness... and a divot... without ditching your clubs in the pond and dousing yourself in therapy booze...😂
Hi Andrew,
Welcome to my world! I just posted some comments stating nearly the same things. I finished the season in January showing some great progress and much improved ball striking. I came back in March as a completely different golfer. I have no consistency and started $#@^&ing and slicing and fading...
I did start really focusing on the 90% weight forward drill near the end of my last 9 hole round and the last two holes were very enjoyable. It is not an easy drill but it does work.
I had similar issues. What I found to help was to start with small swing drills first that I know help me, especially the 90% weight forward, arms straight drill. Starting with this helps me have fewer swing thoughts, gets in the groove and helps me send it, building confidence before I go into the full swing.
