I wasn't implying you where @Steven I just wanted to make sure it didn't seem that I was knocking the product... Cause I Know since you cant hear my tone in messages... it can misinterpreted sometimes
Like I stated, this will be the 1st true training aid I have purchased.
But in my endeavors in this life with other competitive sports in my younger days and other ventures, training and aids is not a one size fits all. What I have found is that something that we might love and feels great using, might not be accomplishing the end goal or the reason we decided to engage in the training method.
So for me, the Lag Shot seems like it will address what my needs are and for my physical and "feel" needed to get where I want to be more. And if accomplishes that goal, it will be kept in my tool box for when swing reverts back or I need to polish things up.
Not knocking the statement "I can hit that club for hours". But for me the training aid has to transfer to my clubs and swing. The goal is for it to have to be used on a less and less basis (like I said to polish or tune up swing).
In my short time interacting with Tom and this great forum and fellow golfers. The telltale sign for me is in new components or dills, have a different feel and know progress is being made and ingrained somewhat when a level of comfort (backed of by video) becomes part of swing!
After just 1 video lesson with Tom and setting up Home Range & having video rolling for myself. I believe that is the biggest and most important help and the way forward(at least for me). Video!!!! Video is a self critique that will be on in all my home sessions and on occasion at the Outdoor facility.
1 final tidbit, like @Tom Saguto responded to me there is no picture perfect golf swing! ( see the different swings on tour). But there are foundations and components we should endeavor to incorporate.
And training aids I now realize have to fit what we are trying to accomplish within out unique swing.
Sorry for being so long winded.(NY Italian originally)!
@ryen91 - So a confidence builder with a proven track record vs. a training aid for grooving the path - both of which you can hit balls with and get instant feedback. There's much value on both sides. Which way does the scale tip for you?
@Tom Saguto Honestly... PSP cause I'm more familiar with... but at the same time... changing your swing is all about feeling uncomfortable right. Like WAY back in the day when I used to role my club open, I literally over exaggerated to a fault to fix it.. so I basically made myself point the club fact straight down to the ground for the swing.. and Even swung holding a hanger to make sure I would bow my wrist on the backswing and not cup it creating an open face.... Felt super weird at first... but Even when it is Engrained in your brain, when you swing and don't think about it it isn't going to be pointed all the way down to the ground on the back swing cause your not actively thinking about it.. Reality is I probably got it a little more closed then should have but overall literally fixed so much just by changing that.
and Golf galaxy always had orange whips... so when it was slow I was constantly swinging that ting when I didn't have stuff to do lol...so To me the right answer would be BOTH.. get the psp to build confidence but also get the Lag shot to correct anything I am doing wrong..and get out of my comfort zone
@ryen91 If you haven't already figured it our from my lessons and drills, I'm all about exaggerating "feels" in order to correct a stubborn old habit. For example, if I can get a former shifter/lifter to feel as though they have 90-100% of their weight forward and their hands a hip height at the top of the backswing, then they're probably in reality going to be exactly where I want them at around 70% forward with the lead arm on the shoulder line. So I absolutely get what you're saying about what you did to correct the old roll it open move.
I suggested the either-or option in the event you were considering getting PSP or LagShot. Of course both would be ideal, but if funds are limited - or if that pleasant female voice in the background of your video might perhaps become less pleasant at the notion of golf expenditures 😎 - then getting one now and the other at a later date might be the wiser (and safer) move.....
@Tom Saguto Like I know your sponsored by Lag Shot so you get a little checky check... But if you can answer this as Unbiasedly as possible... LOL... I mean what is the Difference between Lag Shot, Orange whip, and the the skilz (rip off orange whip) besides Price and you can actually hit the ball with the lag shot?.... I mean they all three perform the same purpose, right? Feel free to correct me and I apologize if my assumption isn't correct.
the Orange whip (although probably not the first, but probably the first one to be widely popularized and the same or similar sentiment when it came out... Personally When I was working at golf galaxy we had this old 7 iron called the PSP... and it is a super small 7 iron head.. it is like 40 dollars https://shop.golfpsp.com/item/5395b10da1416c12945b9ed9I love this thing.. I would hit for an hour after work every day.. and got my ball striking down solid... I really like this... I didn't realize it was so cheap till I just looked it up... IDK Tom what do you think about the PSP...
@ryen91 - To me the most effective training aids are the ones we can use while actually hitting balls, and when doing so with LagShot - which is a real golf club - the impact quality, shot shape, and distance provide instant and unforgiving feedback. But my question for you is, if you really loved your results with the PSP - which is also a real club that you can hit balls with and get instant feedback - then why not just use that?
@Tom Saguto Oh well Funny story about that... I came in to the store one day.. and I Noticed it cut in half and in the trash... I was like what happened... to the psp iron... GM oh its super old so just cut it to throw it away.... ME "WHAT, I would have taken it." GM " I would have let you have it, pay for a shaft and reshaft it and its yours" ME "nah I m good".I got real spoiled working at THE GALAXY..... Free balls, Tons of free stuff from Brand Reps, Even got a free driver from a rep once LOL.... it was a GOOD GOLF LIFE... Honestly I just looked up the psp when I wrote about it.. I didnt even know what it was call I was googling MINI 7 iron head... LOL.... I might actually get it now that they know they still make it.
This is not one I have tried. In theory, it should work very similar to the orange whip. I think I reviewed that device. Benefit should be Rhythm, timing, and balance. I may buy one to give it a try.
@Tom Saguto Yes I saw it I see them all. I was thinking of trying it but if I try every device that was out there I'd be a poor man. I just want to get some feedback
Never implied a knock.....just we have to fit what our needs are. Being a former Golf Galaxy associate you know that.
I love my Golf Galaxy, fitting Rep been there forever fitted me for last 2 sets.
I go nowhere else if at all possible.
Blessings
@ryen91,
I am probably the least qualified to respond but just wanted to make a comment.
For sure @Tom Saguto &@Russell Hogue, PhD, this is there wheelhouse!

Understood, @Don Pugsley. There's a little bit on LagShot in this older thread, and it was also mentioned briefly here.
If @Russell Hogue, PhD ends up purchasing one you'll be certain to get a thorough review. 😎
Welcome to this great forum community, @Don Pugsley!!
Did you happen to see today's newly released YouTube episode featuring the LagShot training aids??
@Russell Hogue, PhD - In your various training aid reviews here in the forum have you covered LagShot?
