@mpandichjrdichjr That is the video that really got me watching @Tom Saguto videos on YT. I completely forgot about this video. I've always loved Hogan's swing. Great Video https://youtu.be/MPNLxFC_8Zg
Thanks a lot great feedback !
I will defer to Tom for expert advice but offer these non-teaching-pro tips from someone badly afflicted with the laterals in the past.
First, NEVER say the 'S' word. It is forbidden
Look at the separation of your right arm at the top. It must stay connected. That separation is a death move and causes all sorts of bad things in the downswing. Refer to this video from Tom https://youtu.be/MPNLxFC_8Zg
Look how high your hands are at the top of your backswing. You have got to get that club much lower and around your body. Think waist-high. Your hands are a good foot above your head. The club shaft needs to be intersecting your bicep and your hands need to be behind your shoulder, not above it.
Because you have your hands so high, you are chopping, even though it may not feel that way. To make room for your arms to come through, you are lifting your head and pulling up.
The club is coming across the ball outside in, which will cause that shot. It doesn't look like you are hitting off the hosel. It just looks like it is off the toe and going dead right. Are you making contact with the hosel? If not sure, put some contact tape on our club to see.
SHORTEN YOUR SWING - and I mean considerably. To get that shot out of your system, you have to start with small swing drills. The moment my swing starts to take a turn for the worse, I immediately go to the best golf drill ever, 2.8. I committed myself to truly master this drill and the 's' shot has been history ever since.
I get it, that shot permeates every fiber in your body. So try and overexaggerate the opposite motions. Short backswing. feel like you are bringing the club way inside, 'pull the handle through' on the downswing and let the clubhead 'catch up', (I know people don't like that visualization, but you have to go to the opposite extreme sometimes.) Although I never competed in the hammer throw in track, try to emulate you were making a hammer-throw in track to right field but keep that right shoulder down and under your chin.
