Happy New Year all!
I hope everyone had a good Christmas and got lots of golfing presents!
I had great results with Superspeed training last winter/spring and I decided to restart again before the season restarts. I had gained around 10mph last time out but I've not swung a club since the end of September (decided to have a golf hiatus after a busy summer!)
Tom often mentions me in other posts on superspeed training so I thought I'd post my journey this time around.
I'm using a SLX Microsim to measure clubhead speed with readouts using E6 software, using a cheaper version of the swingspeed sticks bought off amazon and my old Ping G10 reg driver to measure my driving speed.
First off, I took 10 swings to get my average speed with my driver which was 95.7mph (lost around 7 mph since May!)
Level 1 training program consists of:
3 swings with the light weight stick dominant side first then non-dominant recording fastest measured swing
3 swings with the medium weight stick dominant side then non-dominant recording fastest measured swing
3 swings with the heavy weight stick dominant side then non-dominant recording fastest measured swing
You then do the same process as above but have your feet closed on the backswing and then step into the downswing
Finally, you finish with 3 swings with the light stick dominant side only and I then do 3 swings with my driver to find my "new" average.
Week 1 session 1 results below and I'll post weekly updates. As you can see, I gained 4.3 mph after the first session but to maintain and gain more, you do need to keep with the training program. Level 1 consists of 5 weeks with 3 sessions each week.
*Left and Right are my max measured swings (dominant/non-dominant, I'm a lefty!)
Hi there all! Long time no speak!
Been bit of a miserable 5 weeks. Sustained an injury, non golf or speed training related but has set me back somewhat!
Really frustrating as my last round 5-6 weeks ago I shot 37 (2 over par) gross and drove the ball long and with ease! Did manage to get my actual driver swing speed measured in a Trackman prior to the injury and shocked myself........105.7mph which was way beyond what I was expecting!
Slowly working back to full fitness as our first tournament of the actual golf season is this weekend but I'm probably only around 70-80% fit so I'll be taking it very easy.
The speed training will probably take a step back until the off season but I'll be carrying out a weekly level 1 training session once a week to maintain the gains from the start of this post.
