Well went down to Golf Galaxy for my fitting appointment @ 1pm today. And will give equipment updates in the future on the "what's in your bag" thread. (I did purchase Ping G425's 4 thru W plus UW & LW)
Being familiar with a lady that has worked there for 10 years plus and knows her stuff. I was able to hit a lot of shots in the Tracker with my old G25's and the new setups we were tweaking. But I also took advantage of the simulator to see what differences could be seen with the new Saguto Academy swing and also hit some shots with old swing. She did notice the difference and I explained what I was doing a and she commented on the new (Saguto) swing and said noticeable difference across the data board! As the tracker showed the grouping and the difference in hitting the sweet spot on the club face between the different swings I was making and of course fitting had a influence on that.
But and this is the BIG but, ball speed launch angle and distance were much improved with new swing and only a a few practice sessions in! Ball speed up 10 mph, launch angle up 8. And when we finally got the shaft and club lie to point of what I ended up buying, The club face and numbers and landing spots on the last 2 shots looked like it was the same shot, couldn't see a difference on the computer!
But the big Proof like I said was the data feed back that was proof the weight forward hands forward through swing was a difference maker.
2 early things I noticed also and time will tell.
1 With a good weight/hands forward swing I tend to be a tad left of target at least from my perception of my alignment will have to get on range with alignment sticks and check out for sure, but shots are straight.
2 I don't know if this is good or bad but since have access to sim on purpose would put a little of the old back swing but still keep hands and weight forward and actually was able to get a fade working!
So a lot of feed back today that I could not get by myself on the range.
I am full tilt(pun intended) into this Academy for sure!
Thanks Mr. Saguto
@Jeff Baughman , I hear you brother! I'm guessing my 25's were 8 or nine years old. And agree not a bad idea to dial it in. I guess I just feel so comfortable with the whole system and the fact some of it learned years ago. So I pulled the trigger, on the 425's, but they felt so good in conjunction with this new swing!
When I first got my 25's I was a 150 7iron, last year or so fell to 140, big deal know your distance not a macho guy for that kind of stuff. But the 425 7 I hit in the sim with the 80% 156, and then just for fun my last I went full tilt on down swing just to see and went whoa that felt good( looked at it down the middle 167)! But I like the 80% swing feels so sweet and consistent.
Juts FYI
I’m still rocking my G25s!! New irons on their way at some point once I get my new swing dialed in more a bit.
Oh yeah, made arrangements already funeral was yesterday right after I paid for new set!😪😋
Just couldn't resist using the sim to see the feedback and the difference. Not that I needed conformation because I could feel the difference in the few sessions and it is amazing how uncluttered the swing feels. I just keep my eye on ball as usual and after setup weight forward and good posture make sure my takeaway is staying around my body and it seems to grove pretty well. Sure still a few miss-hits but feels real good so quick and when I keep it uncluttered it is the best and simplest.
Weather turning here....should make practice facility Thursday.
League starts April 13th.
Hope you all don't get tired of hearing from me!
Love the Forum and Saguto Academy , part of my renewed passion for golf.
Awesome stuff, @Steven!! My only suggestion would be to commit that "old swing" to its final resting place sooner rather than later. Revisiting it too often can be like conducting a séance to invoke those old swing demons, and we definitely don't want them haunting your new groove!
Enjoy your new tool set!!
