You grip ought to be sufficiently firm to keep the handle of the club secure for the entirety of the swing. However, "too hard" or "tight" - when referring to grip pressure - conjure up notions of over-activating the tendons and muscles in the arms, which can definitely wreak havoc on the swing. You may need to try adjusting your grip pressure to the point where your forearms feel "soft" and your wrists are "oily" and not rigid, but where you also still have complete control of the club.
